Characteristics of laser cutting:
a. The cutting quality is good. Due to the small laser spot and high energy density, a good cutting quality can be obtained by one laser cutting. The slit of laser cutting is generally 0.1-0.2mm, the width of heat affected zone is very small, the geometry of slit is good, and the cross-section of slit is regular rectangle. There is no burr on the cutting surface of laser cutting, and the surface roughness R can reach more than 12.5um. Even as the last processing procedure, the cutting surface can be directly welded without further processing, and the parts can be used directly.
b. The cutting speed is fast. The speed of laser cutting is faster. For example, with 2KV laser power, the cutting speed of 8mm thick carbon steel is 1.6m/min, and that of 2mm thick stainless steel is 3.5m/min. In laser cutting, the heat affected zone of the workpiece is small, the deformation is very small, and there is no need to clamp and fix, which can not only save the clamping fixture, but also save the auxiliary time of clamping.
c. There are many kinds of cutting materials. Compared with oxygen ethane cutting and plasma cutting, there are many kinds of materials that can be cut by laser cutting, including metal, non-metal, metal matrix and non-metal matrix composites. For different materials, due to their own thermal physical properties and laser absorption rate is different, it shows different laser cutting adaptability.
d. Suitable for the processing of large products. The mold manufacturing cost of large products is very high, laser processing does not need any mold, and laser processing can completely avoid the collapse edge formed by punching and shearing, which can greatly reduce the production cost of enterprises and improve the product grade.
e. Clean, safe and pollution-free. In the process of laser cutting, the noise is low, the vibration is small, and there is no pollution.
f. It is not susceptible to electromagnetic interference. Unlike electron beam machining, laser processing is insensitive to electromagnetic interference and does not need vacuum environment.
