Many customers do not know how to choose laser cutting machine, nor do they know how to judge the cutting quality standard of laser cutting machine. Below I give you a list of 9 items, you can refer to:
1. Roughness
The laser cutting section will form vertical lines, and the depth of the lines determines the roughness of the cutting surface. The shallower the lines, the smoother the cutting section. The roughness not only affects the appearance of the edge, but also the friction characteristics. In most cases, the roughness should be minimized, so the shallower the texture, the higher the cutting quality.
2. Material deposition
The laser cutter strikes a special oily liquid on the workpiece surface before starting to melt the hole. During the cutting process, the customer blows away the cut with wind due to gasification and the use of various materials, but up or down emissions also form deposits on the surface.
3. Sag and corrosion
Depression and corrosion have adverse effects on the blade surface, affecting the appearance. They occur in cutting errors that should normally be avoided.
4. Burr
Burr formation is a very important factor in laser cutting quality, because removing burrs requires extra work, and the quality of cutting can be directly judged by the severity and quantity of burrs.
5. Heat affected zone
In laser cutting, the area around the cut is heated. At the same time, the structure of the metal changed. For example, some metals harden. Heat affected area refers to the depth of the internal structural change area.
6. Vertical degree
If the sheet metal thickness exceeds 10mm, the perpendicularity of the cutting edge is important. When the beam leaves the focus, the beam diverges, and the section of the beam extends either to the top or the bottom, depending on where the focus is. The blade is only a few hundredths of a millimeter away from the vertical line. The more vertical the edge, the higher the cutting quality.
7. Deformation
If the cutting heats up the part sharply, the part will deform. This is particularly important for fine machining, where the contours and connectors are usually only a few tenths of a millimeter wide. Controlling laser power and using short laser pulse can reduce element heating and avoid deformation.
8. Reduce width
Cutting width generally does not affect cutting quality. It is only when a particularly precise contour is formed within the part that the cutting width makes a significant difference. This is because the cut width determines the minimum internal longitude of the contour. So in order to ensure the same accuracy, no matter how wide the cut, the workpiece should be constant in the laser cutting machine processing area.
9. Grain
When cutting thick plates at high speed, the molten metal does not appear in the cut below the vertical laser beam, but is ejected behind the beam. The result is a curve at the edge of the cut, followed by a moving laser beam. To correct this problem, reducing the feed rate at the end of the cutting process can greatly eliminate line formation.
